You leave from Sycamore Cove Beach on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and immediately ride up and out of a canyon with lots of scenery including an ocean view.
The route has nothing too technical but it does have a few steep climbs here and there.
The second half is downhill, which makes for a fast and fun ride back to the beach.
Point Magu State Park can get quite busy on the weekends with hikers, bikers and horse riders.
Much of the terrain is dry dirt which can sometimes get a little loose in spots.
Do this ride if you are newer to dirt and gravel riding. WIth the approachable milage, non-technical surfaces and beautiful views, it will leave you excited to do more!
Water and toilets can be found at the beginning and again near the turn around spot.
No food available to purchase on route, so bring your own snacks!
We rode with Maxxis Ravager 700x40 tires which was perfect and we always have a vest and arm sleeves for the sun.
You can park in the day parking lot on the canyon side or in the beachside lot. There are parking fees for both of these lots.
You can also park on PCH where there is no fee, but you may have to park/bike a little ways away and you'll need to pay close attention to signage regarding if parking is allowed or not.
