Exploring South Boulder bike paths and trails. (We’re familiar with the road rides in North Boulder but most of this South Boulder Groad was new to us).
We were on a full array of different surfaces – bike paths, single track and dirt roads for a majority of the ride so had very few cars to deal with.
Fantastic views of the Flatirons with amazing winter cloud formations.
This was a great route design by Sports Garage and the Gravelanche Series (we bailed on the actual group ride yesterday because of poor weather, but couldn’t be happier we got out there and did it today).
Wind, Wind and more Wind!
The first portion of the Marshall Mesa Trail was technically challenging and rocky (don’t worry it got better, and we would classify it as beginner single track).
We did this ride on a Sunday and the single track portion had a fair amount of hikers, dog walkers and kids. We thought we were pretty badass and then we saw some 5-year-olds on mountain bikes speeding by us and we were humbled.
Do this ride if you have time during the week to avoid pedestrian traffic on the bike paths and single track trails (and ideally if you have control of the wind)!

It was 42º when we started biking. On cold days, I can’t live without these great fleece-lined gloves.
