August GBA Group Ride

August 17, 2024
8:00 am
Confluence Park/REI, Denver

We know many of you are training for events and/or just want to meet and ride with others.
We are excited to organize and lead the Denver community in local training/social rides.
Meet up times and locations vary- see details below.
If riders are interested, we can go for coffee, beer or food afterwards.

ROUTE DETAILS

We will meet up at Confluence Park, outside the REI Starbucks
Be there at 7:45 am to meet other riders.
Wheels down at 8:00 am sharp. (We will wait no more than 5 min. If you find yourself running late please text Laura at 303-726-4774 and meet us further long the route.)

This is a beginner/intermediate ride which may not be suitable to a new-to-gravel riders. (We say this mostly because of the fact that we won’t have specific pace leaders or sweeps.)
From REI, we'll head out to play on the dirt paths and trails in and around the Stone House and Bear Creek Lake Park. Nearly all of the 13 miles getting out and back to the Stone House are paved bike path, but there are a few opportunities to jump on and off some unpaved trails. For the dirt/gravel portions, expect some wide crushed gravel,  some slightly rocky single track but nothing too technical, rugged or chunky.

Distance: 41.78 miles
Elevation Gain:
1,262 ft
Gravel Ratio:
30% Gravel / 70% Paved

Other  Notes:
*
If you are attending any of our group rides, you MUST fill out our liability waiver, which can be signed HERE.

* All genders are welcome.
* The ride is NOT no-drop, rather, come prepared with the route loaded on your bike computer or phone. There won’t be specific pace groups, ride leaders or sweeps, but riders will be able to ride with similarly paced cyclists.

* While this is a group ride, you are 100% responsible for yourself. Please bring enough hydration and fuel for the ride as well as sunscreen or anything else you might require. Be prepared for varying conditions and weather like heat, cold, rain, snow, etc. Make sure your bike is in good working order and you have the supplies to fix a mechanical issue or flat. Helmets required. 32mm width (or wider) and tubeless tires strongly recommended.

* If people want a mid-ride coffee stop, the suggested place is Morrison Joe's, which will be a slight deviation/add on at about mile 20.

* If riders are interested, we can go to Denver Beer Co for beer/food afterwards.
